Vegas is Making Moves; The Raiders Fire HC Pierce
The Raiders fired head coach Antonio Pierce after an atrocious end to his first season as head coach. Las Vegas went 4-13 this season as opposed to their 8-9 finish last season. In a press conference after letting Pierce go, the team said, “We appreciate Antonio's leadership, first as an interim head coach and this past season as the head coach. Antonio grew up a Raiders fan and his Silver and Black roots run deep. We are grateful for his ability to reignite what it means to be a Raider throughout the entire organization. We wish nothing but the best for Antonio and his family in the future.” Tom Brady, a limited owner of the franchise, is anticipated to help search for a new head coach for the 2024-25 season. However, the season wasn’t the only contributing factor. In fact, The Raiders had some trouble during the offseason. Las Vegas needed a quarterback, but there was no trade attempt to try to move up in the draft. Pierce had been eyeing up Jayden Daniels for the draft, but couldn’t convince the front office to trade up for him. Daniels and five other quarterbacks were selected before the Raiders were on the clock. Vegas instead decided to draft a tight end (Brock Bowers), and sign a veteran free agent. Also, the Raiders had formed an agreement with Kliff Kingsbury (a former HC for Arizona) to come as an offensive coordinator. Instead, Kliff dropped out and went to the Commanders who drafted Jayden Daniels. Antonio Pierce did not have a good end to his season, but hopefully he will turn his career around.
