Not Again… Browns QB Underwent Surgery After He Tore His Achilles for the Second Time In 365 Days

The Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson underwent surgery on Thursday to take care of his right Achilles. Watson has torn his Achilles twice this season, and as the Browns said in a statement, “recovery time and return to play status is uncertain, and he will likely miss significant time during the 2025 season.” Watson said he started to feel uncomfortable levels of pain in Miami during the Week 17 game, and an MRI confirmed a re-rupture to his Achilles tendon. Watson has two remaining years on his contract, so the elephant in the room is whether or not the Browns will draft a quarterback with their #2 pick in the 2025 NFL draft or if they will instead play their backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. "I think the reality of it is that room, it will look different next year," said the GM (General Manager) of the Browns, Andrew Berry. The injury seemed to cause similar discomfort to that of what happened to Aaron Rodgers last season. Recovery may take up to seven months.
