A Goodbye to the G.O.A.T.; Diana Taurasi Retires
Diana Taurasi is widely regarded as the best female basketball player to ever step foot on Earth, and she just retired. Nobody can honestly say DT (Taurasi) finished with an incomplete career. Her resume reads: 3x WNBA Champion, 11x All-Star, 2009 MVP, 10x All-WNBA First Team, 4x All-WNBA Second Team, ROTY (Rookie of the Year), 5x Scoring Champion, A member of the 15th, 20th, and 25th Anniversary Team, as well as a 9x USA Olympic Gold Medalist. Taurasi was also the oldest player to ever compete in a game (42 years old). Taurasi spent her entire career with the Phoenix Mercury after they selected her #1 overall in 2004. The whole league will miss her greatness, and the young stars will experience the void of a mentor to look to. The Phoenix Mercury blew up their team this off-season which tells me they knew Taurasi was retiring. As the WNBA continues to grow in popularity, Taurasi will continue to gain more credit for her greatness.
