Jalen Green, the Outstanding Season and Journey of this Young Talent
Jalen Green, a 6’4”, 22 year old, breakout talent this season has been through a good ride in the NBA, and is having a very successful season this year. Averaging 21.6 points per game this season, 29th in the league, Green is popping off on a team ranking up in the west.
Green has always been dedicated to the sport of basketball. By sixth grade, he was practicing 5 hours a day, and worked to make an AAU (Amaetur Athletic Union) team. He was born and raised in California, and went to San Joaquin Memorial high school. Jalen did not play in college, and went straight to the G league.
Drafted with the number two selection in the 2021 draft, Jalen Green played 67 games, and scored 17.1 points per game in his rookie year, which earned a spot on the all-rookie first team. He later won most athletic NBA player from the NBA, and continued to chug away. However, he had one slight problem, his team was kind of garbage. The Houston Rockets were sitting at the bottom of the league for years, until their young reboot finally clicked this season.
The second team in the west, with only 13 losses, the Rockets continue to climb the ranks. Jalen Green is the leader of this team alongside Fred Vanvleet, both leading the Rockets in points nearly every night. With a prolific offense from these two, and hard-nose defense of Dillon Brooks and Amen Thompson, plus post-control from Alperen Sengun, the Rockets are contending for a ride deep into the playoffs.
