Heat Star SF Jimmy Butler Suspended Again, This Time Indefinitely
The Miami Heat’s all-star small forward, Jimmy Butler has demanded a trade for quite some time now. The Heat have suspended him before, but this time, the suspension is indefinite, and Jimmy Butler’s paycheck will be held until either a trade, or the team comes to an agreement.
Jimmy Butler continues to torch Miami with disrespect, and just walked out of practice half-way through the work-out. This is the third time Butler has been suspended recently, and The Miami Heat and Jimmy seem nowhere closer to reaching an agreement. The Heat said Butler’s suspension will last at least five games, which will be through the NBA Trade Deadline on February 6th.
Not only is Butler not making money because of the suspension, he’s actually losing money too. Every game Butler is side-lined, he’s fined $532,723 starting with the game against the Charlotte Hornets tonight at 7:30. The Heat ensured Butler they are looking for a trade option, but Butler is a hard-pass for most teams. Not only has Butler shown lack of maturity not only in Miami, but also in Minnesota, the star’s contract is also pretty costly. He’s on a three year, $146,396,031, with a $52.4 million player option for the 2025-26 season. That contract is a little high for a second or third option, which is what he will most likely be on most other teams.
"The suspension is due to a continued pattern of disregard of team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team and intentionally withholding services. This includes walking out of practice earlier today," Miami said in a statement earlier today.
