Red Sox Experience Drama Over Starting a 3rd Basemen, Bregman or Devers?
Star third baseman Rafael Devers recently stated that he won't play another position even though the Red Sox just signed former Astro, Alex Bregman, to a 3 year contract worth 120 million dollars. What makes this situation so ironic is that Rafael Devers is one of the worst fielders in the league. He has led the league in errors every single full season he has played in so far in his career. However, Alex Bregman told reporters, “I’m super excited to be his teammate. He’s a great player. I think everybody in this clubhouse is worried about winning. And whatever it takes to help the team win, that’s all I’m focused on. I’ll play wherever A.C. (Alex Cora) tells me to play.”
Triston Casas had his own thoughts about it. He has recently stated that, “I think it’s Devers’ position. I think he’s the third baseman…He has done it for a really long time now. He’s going to fight for it, even if it’s with any of the younger guys, any new guy. I think he’s the best third baseman in the league. I wouldn’t take anybody over him. So, I think he should play third base.”
